Google rebranded Hangouts Chat and Hangouts Meet services. Now they are called Google Chat and Google Meet.

Google Chat is a corporate messenger designed to compete with Slack, and Google Meet is a video conferencing service.

Rebranding is already displayed in the general list of Google products:



Initially, you could see these changes in a background document about upcoming G Suite updates.

We should recall that in March Google opened free access to the Hangouts Meet premium version.

We also add that the other day the company banned its employees to use Zoom.
